Oswaldo Guayasamín, Ecuadorian painter, sculptor and craftsman, born 1919, Quito, Ecuador. Dead 1999, Baltimore, Maryland, United States.

Oswaldo Guayasamín was of Quechua and Criollo heritage.

Guayasamín graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Quito as a painter and sculptor and held his first exhibition in 1942.

Exhibitions among others:
Salón National de Acuarelista y Dibujantes 1948, First prize.
Third Hispano-Amercan Biennial of Art, Barcelona, 1955, First prize.
Fourth Biennial of Sao Paulo. The best South American painter.
Luxenbourg Palace, Paris
